Dr. Steven Fineman founded Sarasota Personal Medicine to provide a patient-centered approach to medicine. With the concierge model, individuals have more time and access, yielding proactive management and the highest quality of medical care.
Dr. Fineman is board certified in both internal medicine and nephrology, which enables him to manage medically acute and complex conditions, as well as provide comprehensive wellness and preventive health services.
Dr. Fineman graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Indiana University with a degree in Biochemistry. He attended medical school at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He moved to Boston to complete his internal medicine residency with a Harvard Medical School appointment at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. Dr. Fineman further specialized in Nephrology during his two-year fellowship back at Emory University in Atlanta and completed an additional year of nephrology transplant training with an appointment at the University of Alabama in Birmingham.
Presently and throughout his medical career, Dr. Fineman has maintained appointments on numerous professional committees to remain current with the newest medical procedures, physicians, and hospital protocols. At Sarasota Memorial, where he is credentialed, he is currently on the credentials committee. He has also served on the medical executive committee, quality improvement committee for the department of medicine, the hospital board mission and planning committee, and served as chairman of medicine.
For the past 20 years, Dr. Fineman has established his home in Sarasota, where he resides with his wife, Lauren, a Tampa native, and their daughters, Sam and Lanie. Originally from Marlboro, New Jersey, Dr. Fineman enjoys the superb Florida lifestyle and staying active, bicycling and exercising. He is an avid photographer using his travels as subjects to capture landscapes. He is dedicated to developing a personal relationship with each patient and family and is devoted to helping improve the lives of his patients.
